The Holy Spirit has a will of His own and is on the earth to take the crucial decisions for the churches. All the gifts available for the believers are not given at random but as the Spirit wills, as mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12:11. Those working for the churches are subjected under the will of the Holy Spirit as in Acts 20:28 Paul conveyed to the elders of the church at Ephesians: “…the Holy Spirit has made you overseers…” As mentioned in Acts 15:28, at a decision-making meeting, the apostle, elders, and the Holy Spirit were present when they took a decision through the will of the Holy Spirit, and then they wrote a letter saying, “It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us…” So we conclude that Holy Spirit has a will too.

HOLY SPIRIT HAS EMOTIONS

The Holy Spirit is not some unemotional entity, incapable of compassion or mercy. He is a person with feelings and a heart. Here are some of the ways in which His emotions are expressed.

1) Romans 5:5 mentions “…God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit…” This indicates that Holy Spirit has love. The Holy Spirit is a person and loves us. Not only that He seeks people with passion and are sensitive in whom He can pour not only His love but also puts fire upon them to share His love to the dying world. For God so loved us that He gave his only Son and the Son so loved us that He died for us while the Holy Spirit so loved us that He revealed the Lord Jesus to us. The same Holy Spirit continues to love us and help us become like Christ.

2)The Holy Spirit can also be grieved. He is not only a person but also is very sensitive. The Holy Spirit is symbolized as a dove because He can be easily grieved by our actions, wrong- attitude, and harshness. Paul says in Ephesians 4:30, “And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,…” The Holy Spirit has a tender heart that will easily weep for us. Instead of grieving Him, we can please Him by putting away bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, speaking evil, and by being kind to each other, tender-hearted, and forgiving one another as God in Christ forgave us, says Ephesians 4:31–32.

Testimony:

I remember an incident when a brother whom I treated well, somehow, did something quite unexpected to hurt me to an extent that I could not forgive. The enemy kept on reminding me how he returned my good for bad and asking me what I was going to do about it. This kept on going in my mind for quite some time. Then I took a firm decision to forgive him and to bless him. So, one day I called him to a restaurant, we had food together and when we left I took a gold ring I had on my finger and gave it to that brother who had hurt me. I remember when I left that brother; I was literally floating in the air because the joy of the Holy Spirit filled my soul. Then I realized that we believers are called not to grieve the Holy Spirit but to make Him happy by our words and deeds, in turn, He will flood our soul with His unspeakable joy.
